Cars – Radio Controlled Recreation
Radio controlled cars are generally the way people get into the RC hobby.
In the mid 60′s, a British company named Mardave, produced the first commercially viable Cars Radio Controlled. Their first cars were Nitro or gas powered.. All such devices require a transmitter with controls, a throttle trigger and the wheels for turning. The receiver is placed in the body of the toy.
Today’s models can be electric or fuel. The electric ones have electric speed control and the fuel models use the radio control mechanisms to control the fuel input and the other parts of the car.
You can get radio controlled cars in either toy or hobby grade. Toy cars are cheaper and can be found in many retail stores. They generally run on electric power. Hobby grade cars, on the other hand, are more expensive, generally run on gas power, and are found in hobby stores and specialty shops online.
These cars radio controlled are also used in races, and the cars or toys used in the races should confirm to the specifications. Other Radio Controlled devices include boats, airplanes, helicopters and robotics. The small robots, cars and toys are usually for indoor play.
There are international robotics contests held annually in Japan and other countries. Robotics can be an interesting hobby combined with radio controlled vehicles.
The uses for radio control devices are limitless, and cars only scratch the surface. In reality, there are hundreds of different ways that you can enjoy Radio Controlled Devices.
As your RC skills advance, you will be able to build stronger, faster, and more efficient cars.
If you are just getting into RC, it is generally a good idea to buy pre-made cars to get you started.
Play with it for a couple of days, and then take it apart. Look at the way the motors are connected to the wheels, and look at the general architecture of the RC car.
Once you have a general idea of what makes a RC car tick, you can start building one of your own. Start by building a car from wood or plastic and installing the electrical components. Then you can have the fun of designing it by using paint and decals.
While you may feel overwhelmed at first, relax! There is a wealth of information on the internet and in hobby magazines to guide you.
