PostHeaderIcon Fashion and Ladies Golf Attire

I picked up one of those ‘Golfing for Women’ type magazines the other week and got to asking myself where these women actually live, who buy the golf attire shown in women’s golf magazines? I have never seen women, not even the pros, dressed in such expensive and flamboyant clothes.

It’s easy to spend money fitting yourself out for golf: hats, sunglasses, gloves, shirts, shorts, socks, windbreakers and shoes all add up quickly, even if you shop at the sales. Then factor in equipment, bag and cart and you have to play quite often to keep the “CPU” – cost per use down to an acceptable level.

One glossy advertisement showed a beautiful young ‘golfing lady’ in very tiny shorts (like that’s permitted on golf courses!) that cost nearly $300, a golf shirt at almost $600, a jacket by Ralph Lauren at almost $200 and two-toned Utuser shoes costing $400 plus.

That comes to just about $1,500! I know that it would be impossible for me to get the CPU on that outfit down to anywhere near a normal limit in my entire golfing life! Please don’t get me wrong – I do love clothes and I do really, really love shoes, but I could never afford, nor even want, golf shoes or pants that cost as much as most people’s weekly wages.

Granted, you need comfortable golfing shoes that don’t look like an old pair of wooden clogs, but honestly, you will be able to buy cheaper and yet still trendy golfing shoes.

I have several very stylish golfing outfits, although none of them are brand names. If I totalled up the cost of all of them, it would not come to the price of a Tse golf shirt. Personally, I’d rather have several stylish outfits than one outrageously priced one.

If I were to wear a $1,500 outfit to play golf in, I would just be too worried about getting it dirty or perspiring in it to play a decent round of golf.

PostHeaderIcon How Jumping Training Can Help You Increase Your Vertical and Why it Works

Whether you want to start your jumping training due to sports or that cool video on YouTube, you can do so with a specific set of principles. The first thing to understand is you don’t just spring off your feet from some powerful leg movement. If you truly want to get the most from your jumping abilities, then it starts by powering your jumps from the core of your body (the torso). This means your arms, legs, and feet are all important as well.

Unfortunately you won’t be able to be the best simply by knowing it. In fact, if you don’t have the proper technique going in you won’t progress at all. The only way to truly maximize your efforts knows everything there is to know about the technique itself. This means understanding the positioning of your arms, legs, and feet, as well as what to do with that strength from your core. There are a lot of coaches out there who understand this, but they have a hard time actually teaching it. You will soon find out that this isn’t good news for you, and you’re subjecting yourself to serious injury.

First off, men and women are not only biologically different. Their physical makeup is also different. Hence, they jump differently. Women in particular, tend to jump and land in a more upright position and they tend to jump off with an incorrect knee position. Their anatomical differences contribute to these differences and predispose women jumpers to serious injuries. Understanding this helps coaches, trainers and athletes alike to work on correcting this problem early on.

Now, this may sound too nitty-gritty. But if you are serious about wanting to increase vertical jumps, serious jumping training requires a scientific approach. That means understanding all theories – your anatomy, safety, nutrition, etc. – before you can begin to align your jump with what’s proper. An effective jumping training program makes you understand what you need to do and how you’re supposed to do it.

True, some are gifted athletes with natural talent. But while that certainly contributes to motivation, genetics is no substitute for hard work. If you dig up the backgrounds of successful athletes, you’ll find one common thing – they worked hard to hone their skills and develop their natural talent. Thus, learning how to increase vertical jumps properly may not turn you into Air Jordan but it would certainly help you jump a tad bit higher.

Obviously, jumping training is not just about leg and ankle power. Core strength is as important. It goes without saying that including specific exercises into your jumping training routine helps to improve your vertical jump. When you train, don’t forget to

When you start training, don’t forget to warm-up and stretch. We could write about this aspect all day long, because without it, you could end up hurting yourself and having major setbacks. Just think about all the sports out there today. Are there any of them you can think of that don’t warm-up before game day? Oh, and if you were thinking NASCAR, those guys hit the weights more than you know.

Do some abs exercises. You need core strength to power your jumps. Building your abdominal muscle is the key to that strength. Crunches and oblique abs exercises should be on the plate. Your entire midsection needs to be toned and strengthen to lift your body off the ground even during jumping training.

Have you always wanted to jump high but never possessed the leg strength? Now you don’t have to worry about leg strength, all you need is the proper jumping training techniques and you will be jumping in no time. Check out my site www.verticaljumpingblog.com to start jumping today.

PostHeaderIcon Basic Tennis Psychology (Part 1)

Tennis psychology is nothing more than understanding the make-up of your opponent’s mind and gauging the effect of your own strategy on his/her mental viewpoint and also understanding the psychological effects resulting from the different external causes on your own head.

Nevertheless, it is also true that you no one can be a successful psychologist of others without first understanding his own psychology. So, you have to study the effect on yourself of the same thing happening under different conditions. This is because you react differently in different moods and under different circumstances.

You must realize the effect on your game of the resulting irritation, pleasure, confusion, or whatever other form your reaction is. Does it increase your efficiency? If so, go for it, but never give it to your opponent. Does it rob you of concentration? If so, either remove the cause, or if that is not possible, try to ignore it.

Once you have correctly judged your own reaction to conditions, study your opponents in order to decide their temperaments. Like temperaments react similarly, and you can judge men of your own type by yourself. Other characters you must try to liken with people whose reactions you already know.

Someone who can regulate his/her own mental processes runs an great chance of reading those of another for the minds works along certain lines of thought and can be examined. One can only control one’s own thought processes after studying them very carefully .

A steady, phlegmatic baseline player is rarely a quick thinker. If he was he would not adhere to the baseline. The physical appearance of a player is often a fairly clear indicator of his/her type of mind. The stolid, easy-going player, who usually advocates the baseline game, does so because he hates to stir up his/her slow mind to work out a safe method of getting to the net.

Then there is the other sort of baseline player, who would prefer to remain at the back of the court while directing an attack intended to break up your game. He is a very dangerous player and a deep, quick thinking opponent. He gets his/her results by mixing up his/her length and direction and worrying you with the variety of his/her game. This player is a good psychologist.

The first sort of tennis player mentioned above merely hits the ball without much idea of what he is actually up to, while the latter always has a solid, thought-out plan and sticks to it.
